Eyelid Aesthetics (Blepharoplasty)
Blepharoplasty is a procedure within the scope of eyelid aesthetics, allowing to give the individual a younger and more active look and it helps eliminate the wrinkles on the eyelids. To achieve these outcomes, bagging of the upper and lower eyelids and excess skin over the respective area are removed. This aesthetic intervention effectively eliminates the effects of aging on the eyes.
Blepharoplasty can be combined with other procedures including facial aesthetics, eyebrow lift, cheekbone augmentation with silicone pads, fat injection to wrinkles, laser use, and botox injections. All of these interventions are used for achieving facial rejuvenation.
Aesthetic interventions aiming facial rejuvenation, such as eyelid aesthetics, can be performed after 35 years of age, when the skin elasticity begins to diminish. The upper age limit of the procedure can be accepted to be the age of 70.
Furthermore, the procedure can be performed in childhood to treat congenital eye problems, eyelid drooping, and the problem of upper eyelids covering at least half of the colored part of the eye. Even if the extent of eyelid drooping is low in childhood, it is still recommended to perform the surgery before the school age.
Also, eyelid problems can occur in young ages due to genetic factors and these individuals can undergo eyelid aesthetics at these ages.
